Shot-making: To consistently make difficult shots you must have a system that makes all shots seem the same. The way I’ve discovered to do this is to use the cue-ball to aim with and connect that point to either the edge or the center of the object ball. This enables you to be precise where it counts and where you can clearly see. It is much easier to see a particular spot on the cue-ball than it is on the object ball.

How to attack the pocket: Many people would think that I aim at the center of the pocket every time since that is where I’m hitting most of the time. It would surprise them to know that I never aim at the center, except on a straight in shot. I imagine the pocket having three different parts to it and I usually will try to hit the side of the pocket closest to the ball and then “throw” the ball into either the center or the other side of the pocket. If it doesn’t throw at all it will go into the portion of the pocket that you originally aimed at.

How to “throw” the ball: I will get into what the cue-ball really does when you hit it with different speeds and spins and how you can finally use it to your advantage rather that missing shots from lack of knowledge. This method will increase the size of the pocket that you shoot at simply by using the right approach to pocketing the ball.

Shape – the name of the game is flexibility: There are certain angles that give you the ultimate in flexibility as far as to what you can do with the cue-ball and how many places on the table you can get to. I have found that instead of playing shape to make the next shot as easy as possible which is commonly taught that it makes more sense to play shape to get the same angle every time. This also will enable you to hit your shots the same speed more often. The angle will also let you take advantage of the three part pocket system more effectively. Include drills for this.

The bridge: What the players are doing with their bridge hand has changed in the last ten years I will tell you how and why this has happened to raise the level of play and how you can incorporate it into your game.
Playing under pressure: Describe in detail a quick way to lower your brain waves and go into “unconscious stroke” as you’re sitting in your chair. Become aware of three things you see, hear and feel, then become aware of two thing that you hear, see and feel, then become aware of one thing that you feel, see and hear then you can become absorbed into the cue-ball and make those little balls in those big, big pockets.

Missing: Knowbody likes to talk about this subject yet it is part of the game and in some cases too much a part of the game. Everyone misses and sometimes the table sets up to where it actually is beneficial to miss, but do it in such a way that your opponent is either snookered or has a long, tough shot. There are some cool secrets that I’ll be glad to share but I’m getting tired and I have to pull up for now.
